Acupuncture for Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture has long been known to use a specific protocol for facial rejuvenation.   Acupuncture for facial rejuvenation treatments were popular among the wealthy in China before the Communist takeover. Now, with aging Baby Boomers trying to stave off wrinkles, the technique is gathering steam again. The needle therapy can also be used to treat acne, lighten or erase freckles and age spots.  The advantage is that it is non-surgical and it has no negative side-effects.  It does take a lot of needles that are inserted predominantly all in the face.    It has never been a focus here at RiverWest Acupuncture, until now.  However, we decided to do it WITHOUT needles.  How does that work?

Our unique no-needle approach

As a practitioner, I like to use as few needles as possible.  But with facial rejuvenation, it’s not really possible.   As a result, I looked for a different way to do it, while getting the same kinds of results.  I believe we have found it.  We are using Celluma LED therapy.   It works on removing the fine lines, improving skin texture, and elasticity.

What is LED therapy?

Alternative to Acupuncture for Facial RejuvenationThe Celluma LED light therapy effectively uses red, blue and white LED lights that use the same frequency that helps our skin.   Clients lay on a comfortable table, and the light is arranged over your face with protective eye wear on to protect your eyes.   Completely relaxing.

Sandy Stroh, the esthetician, that is here at RiverWest administers this process.  If you have questions about this, call her directly at 503-274-0260.

What are the typical results of Facial Rejuvenation?

  • Smoothed lines
  • Improved skin firmness
  • Improved skin texture
  • Deep wrinkle reduction
  • Reduction in acne breakouts
  • No known undesirable side effects.

Who Should Consider Having This Procedure

Women and men ages 30-70+ who want to:

  • Prevent and slow visible signs of aging on the face and neck.
  • Remain more confident in their careers by looking vibrant and youthful.
  • Delay future signs of aging.
  • Avoid plastic surgery or injections of substances such as Botox and Restylane.

How Long Does Each Treatment Take?

LED appointments are 1 hour each.   The first session, Sandy gives a full facial before using the LED lights, thus plan for a 2 hour appointment.  Sandy has found that by getting a facial first, it enhances the effectiveness of the LED treatment.  Follow up treatments do not require a facial.

Do I Need To Do Anything in Advance To Prepare My Skin?

Ladies may wear their usual cosmetics, although we will remove them before each treatment. A powder room is available so that you may reapply cosmetics afterward.

How Many Procedures Are Required To Get Results?

A series of approximately 10-15 treatments (depending on treatment focus) over a few months are required for maximum and lasting effects. There are no known side effects so you may undergo consecutive treatments in rapid succession, if desired.

Recommended frequency:

  • For the first 8 treatments, twice per week
  • For the remainder, once a week

*Additional treatments may be required for smokers, the elderly and clients with extensive sun exposure

How Do I Maintain Results?

The need for follow-up varies with each individual. This may be as infrequent as once every 2 to 3 months, to as often as every 4-6 weeks. The results will be enhanced by performing a good skin care regimen and good health practices. This includes protecting your skin from the sun; not smoking; drinking a generous quantity of water every day; getting enough sleep; and avoiding caffeine and alcohol, which quickly dehydrate the body.
