We at RiverWest practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which includes acupuncture, acupressure and Chinese herbs.
On your first visit I will listen to you very carefully in an extensive interview. I will feel the subtle variations in the pulses in your wrists, observe the sound of your voice, the condition of your tongue, face and skin and ask about your emotional well-being to discover a wealth of information about how your body is functioning. With this information I can determine which specific points on your body to use.
I use only pre-packaged sterile disposable needles, so there is no risk of infection or disease transference. Other methods that do not require the use of needles can be used if necessary.
Most people like to know what results can be expected. Often relief from symptoms is felt immediately, although relief may occur in the following days (or weeks) depending on the severity of symptoms. For acute disorders, such as the common cold or acute sprain, positive results can be expected within one to three treatments. For more chronic problems, such as menstrual disorders or chronic rhinitis, it may take up to three months. In the case of chronic degenerative, disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, regular treatments can be used for effective pain control and enhancement of health and well-being.
Many people who have lived with their discomfort for so many years believe they will just have to make do or that "someday" their pain will go away. Acupuncture has succeeded in many cases where other treatments have not. You can optimize your own health.
